В обзоре проанализированы результаты герпетологических исследований Крыма за последние 50 лет, приводится список таксонов амфибий и пресмыкающихся Крымского полуострова и общее описание местной герпетофауны. Кроме 5 видов амфибий и 14 видов пресмыкающихся обитающих в настоящее время в Крыму, несколько видов уже вымерли или были ошибочно указаны в предыдущих публикациях и обсуждаются в статье. Все виды крымской герпетофауны рассмотрены с точки зрения их охраны, подчеркивается роль полуострова в сохранении редких видов. Охранный статус амфибий и пресмыуающихся Крыма предложен для предстоящего издания Красной книги Крыма.

This review presents the results of herpetological investigations in the Crimea (Ukraine) during the last 50 years; a list of taxons of amphibians and reptiles of the Crimean Peninsula and a general description of the local herpetofauna has been given. Besides 5 species of amphibians and 14 species of reptiles now inhabiting the Crimea, several species have already died or have been erroneously mentioned in the previous publications and have discussed in the article. All species of the Crimean herpetofauna have been examined from the conservation point of view, the role of the peninsula in preservation of the threatened species have been underlined. Status categories for amphibian and reptile species have been proposed for the expected Red Data Book of the Crimea.
